چکیده

Background: Natural products are characterized by a complex chemical composition and capable of concurrently modulate several signalling pathways. Considering the biological complexity carcinogenesis, natural represent key components therapeutic armamentarium for oncological diseases. The bark Terminalia arjuna is used in traditional Ayurvedic medicine its astringent, expectorant, cardiotonic, styptic, antidysenteric properties. Alongside uses, exhibits different activities including antimutagenic anticarcinogenic. Objective: This study was designed to evaluate toxic effects an alcoholic extract obtained from T. on human T-lymphoblastic cell line (Jurkat). We explored phytochemical investigated cytotoxic, cytostatic, genotoxic, anti-genotoxic effects. Methods: analyzed using spectrophotometric methods; all endpoints were assessed through flow cytometry. Results: screening showed that polyphenols about 64% extract. Moreover, cytotoxic Jurkat cells inducing both apoptosis necrosis, blocked cycle G2/M phase. Additionally, it found lacks any genotoxic effect, but not effective protecting DNA damage induced H2O2 etoposide. Conclusion: results our show confirm pivotal role played compounds field. Further studies should be performed better understand clinical potential deepen toxicological profile.
